Wattle is a Neolithic technique where thin branches are woven into a lattice. This lattice is then daubed with earth, clay, or lime-based renders to create a composite building material. This method has been in continuous use for millennia.
Bambusa
Bamboos should be preserved as they have low resistance to biological organisms. The durability depends mainly on time of harvesting, species, culm length and thickness.
Water Leaching
Trench
Here comes trench for bamboo treatment.Insect infestation in bamboos occurs due to presence of starch and this can be prevented by leaching bamboo(bamboo in water),by heating and by using chemical preservatives(boron salts).
Boron Treatment
It’s a non-fixing bamboo preservative. These boron salts are dissolved in water. After treatment, the water evaporates leaving the salts inside the bamboo. They are non toxic. The combination of boric acid and borax in a ratio of 1:1.5 called Disodium octaborate tetrahydrate. This is effective against borers, termites and fungi.
Eco Preservative CNSL
Cashewnut shell liquid(CNSL) oil acts as a wood preservative.
